NaNoWriMo, Day 27

Today is Day 27 of NaNoWriMo! My total for day 26 of NaNoWriMo was 658 words. Pretty impressive with me traveling and such for Thanksgiving.

All passages were in order from yesterday's post, so here's what I wrote:

I looked over the dress some more while creating some dramatic tension with the men in the room. Atria remained quiet, but I was aware of her presence in place of Rashta, and aware of the energy needed to keep her there.

Zalrish swore at me in elvish. “I hate it when you do that.”

I giggled and fanned out the train of the ball gown dress to get a better idea of what I had to work with, and keep myself distracted from wishing I looked as nice as I did when living Atria’s life.

“What did we just see?” Vesser asked.

I grinned. “For an exchange of a large quantity of energy, I can access knowledge from my past lives. For an even larger amount of energy, they can take control of my body briefly. This exchange has my features change to theirs.”

“Can Rashta do that too?” Vesser asked.

I nodded. “Yes, but it doesn’t require energy on my part, and her features don’t override mine. I can project her into a corporeal form though instead, which would take energy from me.”

“Can we talk about how calm everyone is over this?” Rial asked. “It’s not exactly normal.”

Zalrish clapped his hands together and then whipped off the close measuring tape around his neck. “No. We have work to do before Rinneth falls asleep on my floor. Rinneth, love, if you need to sleep, my bed is made with fresh sheets.”

I chuckled. “Thanks, Zalrish. Behave yourself.”

He sighed. “You’re no fun.”

My team looked at me with worry when Ramos and I snickered.

“Now, you four follow me. I have a lot of work to do to get all of you looking good so she doesn't look bad standing next to you.”

I looked over Zalrish’s drawing as he ushered the boys away and Atria’s knowledge flowed into me. I decided to draw out a new one, since many of the ideas Atria was giving me, wouldn’t work with Zalrish’s current design. The two of us worked together to keep my friend’s original design intact, but just better. The resulting image, quite interesting.

The sweetheart neckline was changed to a plunging v-neck halter and we had slimmed down the dress from a layered ball gown to a taffeta trumpet with a long train. The dress dawned feathers in an elegant fashion down the curves of the dress and onto the train, and blue, black, and gold cloth had been added to the overall design to resemble traditional peacock feathers while still holding onto the elegance that came with ivory. Attached to the halter neck, was a modified version of the fanned feathers Zalrish was struggling with, creating a striking collar. The mask, was changed from ivory, to gold with blue, black, and white accents and wide feathers on one side held on by an elegant pendant of the exotic bird.

Looking over at Zalish to find him still measuring my teammates, I went about grabbing supplies and then started slimming down the dress with Atria directing me. By the time I started to feel drained from the connection with Atria, and two sets of male feet were advancing towards me, and the dress’ modifications were half done. I turned around to address the men, only to be taken aback by Vesser’s new look.

His had not only been styled differently, but it looked as though in order to be so, it had been grown out and re-cut. The tailored black suit he wore, clung to his sculpted form perfectly.

“Oh, he’s so yummy in this life,” Atria said.

“What? It’s not him.”

“Yeah, and I’m really part squirrel. There’s only so long you can deny it, Rinneth. None of us who tried succeeded.”

Her presence then disappeared and I felt weaker than before but did my best to hide it from Vesser and Zalrish. I smiled at Vesser. “You look good in a suit.”
